UMMMMM…that wouldn’t be my first priority!

Well, the For Sale sign arrived in our front yard on Wednesday. As soon as I seen it I logged onto the website it listed so that I could check out the actual listing for the house. I was kind of shocked when I found it! First, they listed the house as being in a different school district than it actually is, which will make a HUGE difference to someone that wants to buy it. The one that they have it listed in is a much better school district than the one it is actually in. I did call the realtor to let him know about this, in case they listed it in the wrong school by mistake!

The land lord is cracking me up though, not in a bad way really, but his thoughts on things that he should do to possibly try and help the house sell make no sense to me. For starters, the sink sits in a 12 foot length of kitchen counter top and both of them DESPARATELY need to be replaced! The counter is that old white Formica stuff with the gold dots or flecks in it, you know, that stuff that was UBER popular in the 70’s? And the sink is a white porcelain sink that’s GROSS! But rather than think about replacing either of those, he’s just going to replace the kitchen faucets instead. UMMMMM….OK, the faucets do need to be replaced, but that will just make the counter and sinks look that much worse!

I guess I can understand that he’s trying to make small, inexpensive repairs rather than more costly ones, but it honestly makes no sense to me at all! Then again, maybe it’s not for me to understand. Besides the strange repairs he’s also asking quite a chunk of money for the property, way more than the going rate for houses in this area that are in MUCH better shape! Anyway, I’m just hoping it honestly doesn’t sell, or at least not quickly, I guess only time will tell!

Six months later

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Family, Real Estate, WTH?

There are many things in life that never cease to amaze me, but I’m about to talk about something that totally blows me away! As you know, about six months ago, we helped my sister and her family move into their new home that we also helped them completely remodel. I was talking to my sister on the phone the other day and she told me that she and her husband had gotten into a HUGE argument. As with most couples, the argument started over bills and finances. But what her husband told her to do is what has me blown away! At the end of the argument, before he stormed out of the door, he told her that she needs to call their real estate agent and put their new home on the market, because he doesn’t want to have to deal with it anymore. HUH?!?! You want to sell a house that you’ve MAJORLY over mortgaged six months after you moved into it? I love when people say totally stupid things in a moment of anger because it gives me something to laugh about for a long time afterwards!

He put it up for sale

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: News, Old House, Real Estate

If you’ve been reading here regularly, you know that we recently moved from a house that is, in our opinion, totally unfit to be inhabited. The house has several areas in it that have black mold, on top of that it is not supported correctly and is buckling in a few places and it also has several windows that have either fallen out or are on the verge of falling out. We found out today that the man that owns the house was there the other day with a real estate agent, trying to get them to list it. Apparently they must not have been able to list it for what he wanted to, or they simply refused, because now it has a big “FOR SALE BY OWNER” sign in the front yard. I wish him luck, but I hope that no one is blind enough to what’s wrong with it to actually buy it!

If I were going to move to Florida

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Real Estate, Thoughts

I’ve had many thoughts about moving to Florida. I mostly have them when we are in the middle of a cold, harsh winter. I’ve never been a fan of winter, other than the first snow. After that, it could go immediately to spring as far as I’m concerned! I like the looks of some of the Tampa real estate that I’ve seen. And Tampa is such a nice area of Florida, and it’s close to so many of the wonderful attractions that Florida has to offer!

I’m ready to do some house hunting!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Holly, Real Estate

As much as I have enjoyed living here, I’m about ready to give up and say it’s time to move on. But I know one of the things that I need to do is start looking at real estate. Whether we choose to stay in this area or not, if I don’t get busy looking we’ll have no choice but to stay here. I know what I have in mind, but the key is to see if I’m going to be able to find something close that is within our budget!

Looking for a new home?

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Real Estate

As much as I’d like to move, I know that it currently isn’t in the cards for me. But I do know a few people that have been looking for a new home recently. Many Realtors, like ellijay real estate offer comprehensive information for both home buyers and home sellers. I don’t know much about real estate, but I do know that you need to be informed and prepared before you decided to buy a new home.

I’d love to live on the waterfront

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Real Estate

One of the things I remember the most from my childhood is spending time at a lake front cottage that my grandparents owned. We’d spend nearly every weekend there as well as a week or two over the summer. I loved falling asleep and hearing the water hit the shore. I’ve heard that many places in North Carolina have beautiful water front areas and have even looked at some beaufort nc real estate online. It sure is a pretty area!

What would you do if…

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Real Estate

Do you ever dream of what you’d do if you won the lottery for millions? I have a few times, even though I rarely buy tickets. One of the things I know I would do would be to high tail it out of this area and find myself a beautiful home, maybe I’d even consider looking at Raleigh North Carolina Real Estate. I’d have to have something with some acreage, and I’d definitely want it to be on the water with a deck facing the west so I could sit outside and watch a beautiful sunset over the water with a cup of coffee in hand!
