I’ve been a fan of ALL the CSI shows for many years. I watch the new episodes when I can and catch the reruns of some of them on an almost daily basis. But the original CSI has always been one of my favorites! And I have to tell you that I have been in lust with Warrick Brown since the first time I laid eyes on him! But his recent arrest and felony drug charges disgust me!

Yes, I know the trend among today’s stars lately has been getting into trouble, going into drug rehab, going to court and having their hands slapped, then turning around and repeating their mistakes. But the arrest of Gary Dourdan, a.k.a. Warrick Brown, goes above and beyond what we’ve seen lately. His charges are for felony possession of heroin, cocaine and ecstasy and all I can say is WOW! Why would someone with such an amazing future put themselves into that kind of situation? Yes, famous people are human and they do make the same kinds of mistakes that us “common folk” do, but I don’t even understand why ANYONE would put themselves in a situation like this! Do people honestly NOT realize how badly drugs mess up not only your life, but the lives of your family and friends?

I don’t know, I probably never will understand people or the really dumb choices that they make that eventually ruin their lives!

It’s only January 5th and there has already been story after story about various celebrities and athletes being arrested or hauled off by ambulance because of alcohol or drug usage problems. I’m sure you’ve all read about Britiney Spears being hauled off in an ambulance the other night after refusing to turn her kids over to K-Fed after her visitation. It was originally reported that she appeared to be under the control of some sort of substance, but they’ve retracted that statement and are now saying they were mistaken.

Then there is the infamous Lindsay Lohan who “briefly” fell off the wagon on New Years Eve only a few weeks after being treated at an alcohol and drug addiction treatment center. The article I read said this:

“After being handed a champagne bottle while on a dance floor in Italy on New Year’s Eve and drinking from it, the good news is that Lindsay immediately stopped, called her sponsor, and got herself back on track,”

SURE!! And if you believe that, I have some Ocean front property in Ohio to sell you! What’s sad is that these young people do not realize the impact that their behavior has on young people who looked up to them! For years my daughter LOVED Lindsay and watched many of her movies! But with how dramatically Lindsay’s life changed for the worse, my daughter quickly realized she wasn’t a good person to look up to!

Most young boys tend to look up to athletes as role models. But with recent stories of wide spread drug and steroid use among athletes, you can’t help but wonder what type of effect it is going to have on young people. Who does this give them to look up to as positive role models any more? Celebrities are going more and more into areas that parents teach their children not to go into, as are athletes! Gone are the days of truly natural athletes who strive to be the best that they can be in their sport by actually working for it. Instead they use drugs and steroids that will improve their performance and make them “super athletes”, then they whine and cry because the fans refuse to acknowledge their accomplishments! Just like Barry Bonds! I don’t view his home run record as the true record, because I know he didn’t break the long standing record set by Babe Ruth the way it was meant to be broken. In my eyes, he is not a true athlete and I support the record breaking baseball having an asterisk on it 100%!

If you follow news about famous people, you will see that many of them have been in and out of drug treatment lately. Most, it appears, have not been very successful in their efforts to remain off of drugs and/or alcohol. It appears that Pete Doherty, however, may have finally put an end to his battle with drugs and alcohol. He was recently released from a drug treatment order six months early, and when he was sentenced in court a few days ago, the judge noted

“You have made strides and I hope you will continue in doing so. I would hate to see you going backwards,” district Judge Davinder Lachhar told Doherty

I guess only time will tell if he succeeds.

OMG, I am getting so tired of hearing about Brittney Spears! It saddens me that such a promising young person has once again gone down the wrong path. What makes this case different than some of the others is the fact that there are small children involved. I applaud the judge for ordering her to take some parenting classes and random drug testing. But I can’t help but wonder why the judge didn’t go one step further and order Spears to undergo mandatory addiction treatment, because it’s fairly obvious that she has a problem!

Part of me wishes someone would knock some sense into this girl! She was just released from a center for addiction treatment and was arrested again yesterday? Does she not realize how badly she is going to ruin not only her career but her life if she keeps up on the path she is going down? I saw a quick clip of her father being interviewed this morning and he says the problem is because they’re not a family unit anymore because she never did stuff like this when their family was together. Me, I think it has more to do with the fact that she’s an out of control teen who needs to get some common sense before her life is totally ruined or worse.

The other day at work, we all were taking a break and watching some TV when someone tuned into one of those daytime talk shows where these girls were trying to find out who their baby’s father was. It really is sad that a whole TV show can be devoted to this, but the worst part is that there was one girl who had actually had them run a paternity test for the 14th time, and that one still showed the man that was tested wasn’t the father. My hope is that the child at least has a safe and happy home, even if she doesn’t know who her father is!

I will be the first person to admit that I am THRILLED that DNA evidence has shown that Howard K. Stern isn’t the father of Dannielynn! It’s not that I don’t think he’d be a good father; it’s more that I don’t think his intentions were genuine when it came to being the father of the child of the late Anna Nicole Smith. I think Larry Birkhead’s intentions were true to this child and that he is going to be a very caring and loving father!
