Sorry Tom, I didn’t approve it

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Funnies

I understand that when I make a post here on Just Simply Holly that whatever I write is out there for anyone with an internet connection to view and even comment on! I’m perfectly fine with that, as long as the people that comment here realize that approving a comment is completely at my discretion.

I recently wrote a post asking why kids are so hard on computers talking about how my daughter managed to kill the hard drive on a computer that I had owned for 3 years with no problems. I was a little surprised to find a comment from someone named Tom saying

sounds like your kid is surfing on stuff she shouldn’t be… those aren’t just normal occurrences… how long until she messes this one up? American kids are so spoiled.

Sorry to burst your bubble Tom, but she isn’t “surfing on stuff” she shouldn’t be because I actually have parental controls on both of my childrens computers preventing them from doing this. I also have keylogging programs that monitor everything they type on their computers. And I’m also very sorry to burst your bubble by telling you that she is in no way, shape or formed spoiled! It actually turned out to be a malfunction in the motherboard that caused the hard drive to crash.

Personally Tom, it sounds to me like you’re a bit on the uptight side, and are quick to place blame where it doesn’t belong. I’ve read online that a good colon cleanser might help alleviate some of the “things” that cause a person to be uptight and stressed out, so you may want to check into that. And I’m also very sorry to say that not only did I not approve your comment, I actually marked it as spam, so no future comments from you will even make it through for me to have to approve. Have a great day! :-D

Funny Kid Things!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Funnies, Kids

My daughter is such a hoot sometimes! She has a friend that lived a couple of houses down from where we used to live that she still keeps in contact with. At least once or twice a week they get together to hang out and play, if I tell my daughter she can’t play when this girl calls I get nothing but attitude for the next few hours, so unless there’s something major going on, or she’s in BIG trouble, I usually let her go.

One day last week when she went down there they ended up playing in a small gym area at her friend’s house. According to my daughter, her friends parents have identical treadmills that sit side by side and the girls turned them both on and would climb on the machines then sit down on the belts and slide down the belts on them simultaneously. They both ended up laughing so hard they were crying. Now I could understand this from kids that are 6 or 7, but my daughter is 13…LOL!

I’m not complaining though, I’d rather have her acting goofy and silly over things like this then out running the streets and getting into trouble! I know she’s bored and ready to go back to school! Fortunately for both of us, that happens next week!

I don’t think they’ll be winning any awards!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Funnies, People

I don’t know about you, but for me, a good portion of my day is spent reading and/or watching news. I have several different sites and TV stations that I go to when I need a news fix, and I love the fact that each and every one of them almost certainly carries different types of stories. So no matter what type of news I’m looking for, I can almost always find what I need for my news “fix” at the time.

One of my favorite websites and TV channels is tru TV. Although I can’t always get into the court hearings they have on during the day, by early evening they show a lot of different types of reality type shows. My all time favorite is Inside American Jail, it has to be one of the funniest shows I’ve seen on TV in a long time. No, I don’t enjoy seeing and hearing about people who have gotten into trouble and have gone to jail, what I think makes it funny is the fact that these people are dumb enough to actually get away with some of the stuff they do!

I’ve seen people that were drunk or on drugs trying to proposition the officers thinking that doing so will magically make the officer drop the charges and release them from jail. One time there was this dude who had been caught selling drugs who had actually “hidden” the drugs in unmentionable places in the hopes of not being caught with them. COME ON PEOPLE, get real! I can guarantee you that we won’t be seeing any of the people on this show running a high powered corporation and winning cpm awards any time in the near future!

It’s just like watching shows like COPS and Most Daring, where people honestly think they’re going to be able to push their vehicles to insane speeds attempting to not get caught. Yeah, that’ll work…..NOT! In the words of Forrest Gump, “Stupid is as stupid does”…..LOL

Things that make no sense…

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Funnies, Holly

OK, I’m going to make a list here of things that have happened to me recently that have made me scratch my head because they make absolutely NO sense to me!

  1. Someone wants to purchase a perfectly good TV I’m trying to sell for $10 to save a few dollars, but they want me to bring it to them because they don’t want to use the gas to drive out where I am. UMMMMMM…OK, then you pay me $5 more for the TV because for $10, it’s one heck of a deal!
  2. The guys that do the fogging/spraying for mosquitoes for the county FINALLY came to our house to spray but rather than drive up the side of the house that we told them to, they instead drove through our side yard where the leach field is
  3. At 43 years old I’m having WAY more acne problems than I ever experienced in my teens. Something about the combination of failing eye sight, gray hair, wrinkles and zits is just WRONG!
  4. My puppy can go 6 hours in the house alone while hubby and I are gone without a single potty accident but yet when we’re home she’ll come inside a squat within minutes of when she was just let outside to go potty
  5. And finally, WHY would someone pull into a gas station and pump gas for one price when the gas station directly across the road is offering the same gas from a more reputable gas supplier for more than 10 cents less?

So, there you have it, things that make absolutely no sense to me and leave me standing here scratching my head!

Twenty Nine Again

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Funnies, Holly

Yup, that’s right, I turned 29 on my birthday the other day, again…LOL! To be honest, I wouldn’t go back to being 29 if someone paid me to! Although life currently has it’s “rough spots”, the ones today are much easier to deal with and get through than those that I had almost 15 years ago! Besides, if I were to be 29 again that means that my son would only be going on 2 and my daughter would be a gleam in our eye…LOL! And I REALLY don’t want to go through what all we’ve been through since they were little again!

The biggest “downfall” about getting older is that my memory sure isn’t what it used to be. I still have this thing about numbers, especially phone numbers, but remembering things like names, dates and appointments isn’t as easy as it used to be. It would be so awesome if humans could “plug in” something the way we plug in computer memory cards to help us reclaim the things we need to remember but suddenly can’t. OK, maybe it would be more creepy than awesome, but just imagine how easy it would be to carry around a little chip or card containing the important things you need to remember that you could just pop in when you forgot what you were supposed to be doing!

But still, I’ll take those little quirky things that come with age because I’ve “earned” them. It’s the crazy combination of gray hair, wrinkles, menopause, arthritis and acne that really drives me up a wall…LOL! Why is it that I’m having acne problems in my 40’s that are WAY worse than the acne I experienced in my teens? Something is just wrong about that!

Modern technology is great and has some awesome benefits! But imagine my surprise when a message popped up that I had an email from my daughters cell phone knowing that my daughter is home. And imagine even how much more surprised I was when I read this:

Sorry bout this but baby fell asleep on me and i dont want 2 wake her. Can u bring me a glass of white milk please?

She sent me a message from her room because she didn’t want to wake the puppy up LMAO! I think that tops the cake of the most lazy things I’ve heard of…LOL!

Talk about a GRUMP BUTT!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Family, Funnies, Good Morning, Holly, Kids

Good grief, mornings like this morning annoy the heck out of me! As you know, I’m a parent of one teenager and another that is just a couple months away from being a teenager. Neither one of them have ever been morning people, but as they get older, getting them up and ready for school on time is getting more and more difficult! First they just won’t wake up, then when they do finally wake up and get moving, they’re grumpy and mouthy! And then, when they’re running around like chickens with their heads cut off at the last minute trying to get ready so that they don’t miss the bus, they’re yelling at me like it’s my fault.

It’s mornings like this that make me wish I had a few of the funny t-shirts that I’ve seen at RoadKillTshirts.com! For instance, I would love to have this one when the kids are being grumpy and mouthy!

tshirt1.jpg

Rather than arguing with them I’d simply point to my shirt, smile and walk away…LOL! And I found this T-Shirt that has a saying that my husband says often…LOL
tshirt2.jpg

I can’t tell you how many times over the years he’s looked at me and said that, it was really cool finding it on a T-Shirt, I’m considering purchasing it for him for Fathers Day LOL!

Thankfully, they’re up and gone to school, so I have a little time to myself! I’m going to do some more baking today. I made a batch of peanut butter cookies last night and plan on making a few more kinds of cookies over the next day or two! But that’s a completely different post…LOL! Have a great day, hope you’re not hung over this morning from drinking too much green beer yesterday!

Thanks, but no thanks!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Funnies, Good Morning

I had a good laugh this morning when I emptied out my SPAM comments! For some reason they think I need info letting me know how to get Viagra or Cialis without a doctors prescription. Either that, or I need links to just about every type of porn you can imagine. Well, I’m sorry to inform you, but I’m a female, and I don’t need Viagra or Cialis! I’m also VERY happily married (most of the time), and porn holds no interest to me either!

Seriously though, what is the deal with spammers who try to leave comments with 50,000 links in them? Why do they waste their time AND mine? Are they stupid enough to think that while I’m going through all that garbage comments that I might actually think “OMG, that’s just what I was looking for” and actually approve their comment?

And what’s with all the comments lately that have stuff like this in them, “I wanted catsup for my fries, but the boat was taking on water, this was one of the greatest books of it’s time, but my health prevented me from going”? ROFL I needed a laugh this morning, but I sure did not expect it to come from my SPAM filter on the blog!

Another can’t sleep night =o(

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Blog 365, Family, Funnies, WTH?

I wish I knew what it was that is so deeply on my mind that is keeping me from sleeping lately! I don’t feel stressed, I’m not in a bad mood, nothing is going on with the hubby or the kids. I’ve even had a couple of really nice phone calls with my mom lately, although she’s in a heck of a spot right now, thanks to my darling sister!

If you read my post(s) about the party for my mother and step father that was held a month ago, you know that my sister got all crappy with me because I couldn’t pitch in on an expensive gift that all of the kids wanted to get for them as a combination 70th birthday/Christmas gift. Although I was apprehensive about even going to the party, in the end I had a very good time and was glad that I did go! At the end of the evening everyone was giving/writing checks to my sister, which were everyone’s portion of the gift. While talking with my mom last night I found out that my sister cashed everyone’s checks and rather than paying off the charge for the TV, which was put on MOM’S credit card, she spent the money. So now mom has this HUJASS credit card bill and my sis called her to find out what the absolute minimum payment on it was because she’s broke right now. Can you say WTF?!?!?!? She had the balls to be a HUGE “B” to me over the fact that I couldn’t pitch in when the money that was paid didn’t even go on the damn bill? I want to call my sister on this SOOOOOOOOOO bad because this is so wrong in more ways than one!

OMG, I have to tell you what happened tonight at dinner! We all were sitting around the table eating and talking. I made spaghetti and meatballs for dinner and had used a different sauce than I normally do. We were talking about the sauce and what we liked and didn’t like about it when I mentioned that the only thing I didn’t like about it were the chunks of tomato. Granted, the chunks of tomato in this sauce were smaller than many other spaghetti sauces that I’ve used, but I personally just don’t like chunks of tomato in my spaghetti sauce. I don’t know why, because I do like tomatoes! Anyway, my son made the comment that many things are made from tomatoes, to which I said, “Yeah, like onions”, which got us all laughing. He started talking about the things that are REALLY made from tomatoes when my daughter said something about cherry tomatoes. He looked at her and said something about cherry tomatoes are exactly how they’re grown and aren’t really used for much. I looked at him and said “No, they’re not exactly how they’re grown. Cherry tomatoes are made from big tomatoes. They just take this scooper thing and make a scoop then take a piece of the skin from the big tomato and stretch it around the scoop of tomato so it fits just right”. My son, who is without a doubt one of the smartest people I have EVER known looked at me and said “Really”, like he really believed me! At that point my daughters mouth full of milk came flying out of her mouth and nose all over my husband and myself! Hubby wasn’t too happy about it, but I was busting a gut laughing. Not because of her spitting the milk, but because of the fact that my son remotely believed what I was saying, even if it was only for a split second!

Does it look like we own a horse?

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Funnies, Kids

Oh my goodness, my daughter comes up with the most hilarious things sometimes! She is a perpetual daydreamer and an online window shopping addict to boot. Last night I was kicked back in the recliner and she was sitting here at my computer. You can easily see my monitor from the recliner, so I was watching what she was doing. It looked like she was window shopping for clothes, but to my surprise she wasn’t looking at your typical, everyday clothes. Oh no, not my daughter, she was looking at equestrian riding apparel instead. When I asked her why she was looking at that type of clothing she turned to me and smiled and said, “So I have the proper clothes to wear after you and dad give me the horse you’re going to get me for Christmas”. Her dad and I both busted out laughing! Something tells me this little girl doesn’t live in reality very well…LOL!
