As promised, pictures and videos from this weekend

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Fun Stuff, Sports

I know, we’re half way through the week, but it’s been a busy week as well as a semi crazy one too! We had such a fantastic time at both races up at Michigan International Speedway this past weekend! Although it was the first time I had ever been there, back in the 80’s my husband used to work security up there. It was, however, the first race that he had ever watched from the stands!

For Saturday’s Busch car race, the weather was picture perfect! The temps were in the upper 70’s with a nice breeze and the big puffy clouds kept us from getting fried by the sun! Here are a couple of pics from Saturday’s race!

Sunday’s race was a NASCAR race. In the morning the weather was pretty decent, but by the early afternoon, it was HOT! We had been told that since we were going to go down into the actual pits that there was a “dress code” of sorts and that we had to wear long pants and short sleeves. That ended up not being true, but I’m glad I didn’t wear shorts because my arms and neck ended up getting totally fried sitting in the stands for the race!

Between the sun, all the walking back and forth between the campground and the racetrack and all of the walking up and down pit row I was completely exhausted by the time we got home Sunday night! Honestly though, I wish I could do that type of walking every day, it would help out with weight loss better than any type of weight loss pills ever could!

Anyway, rather than post a bunch more pictures Sunday, I’m just going to post the video that I made from pictures and videos from both days as well as some sound effects and a fun song! I hope you enjoy it!

This would be neat!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Blogging, Friends, Fun Stuff

I’m a member at a couple of online forums. Dyane is one of the ladies at one of the forums I visit and her blog, Words of a Witchy Woman is one that I like to visit when I have the time. In a recent post, Dyane was talking about a Renaissance Faire that her family has been busy getting things ready for. I won’t pretend to even know the meaning behind a Faire, but I will say that from pictures that I’ve seen online, they look really cool! Some of the renaissance clothing that I’ve seen is absolutely beautiful, and it would be so cool to go to something that would give me a reason to dress in a fancy renaissance gown! Of course, all my daughter can say is that she’d look like a princess if she could wear a gown like the ones that I’ve shown her…LOL!

From the sounds of it, Dyane is very busy and has her hands full getting ready for the Faire! I hope that everything goes well for her and she has a wonderful time and I can’t wait to see the pictures!

Aye matey, find me treasure!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Blogging, Contests, Fun Stuff, Holly

No, a pirate hasn’t taken over my blog, so don’t worry…LOL! I was in bed, sound asleep, when I sat up in bed and remembered THE treasure hunt! But this isn’t just your ordinary treasure hunt, the only people that can participate are those of us that work for the company that is holding it! And just what is the treasure for this treasure hunt? Well, I’ll let you guess from the following items that can be found at jewelelegance.com:

  1. A pair of diamond earrings
  2. A gorgeous diamond pendant
  3. A 14 karat gold anklet valued at $240

If you guessed a 14 karat gold anklet valued at $240, you guess right! In order to be able to get the information for the first clue I needed to write this post, so it’s a good thing I woke up like I did, because I have less than an hour left before the cut off time. Can you say MAJOR close call? But the company that I work for is absolutely awesome! I love working for them because they’re always doing fun stuff like this! It’s like they just LOVE giving things away! Besides that, they treat EVERYONE so awesome and they’re just a blast to work for! So wish me luck, and I’ll keep you updated!

I just thought of something!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Entertainment, Family, Fun Stuff

I was sitting here watching the news and they came on with a movie review segment. Although the movies they were talking about weren’t ones that I’d be interested in seeing, there are a couple of other movies out right now that I really would like to see! So maybe while the kids are on break we can take them out to dinner and a movie one night! I LOVE going to the theater to see movies, especially since they built the new theater in a neighboring town!

The whole movie theater experience is so much fun! From the arcade games, to the food stands, it’s what makes going to the movies so much fun! When the kids were little I swear they enjoyed watching the popcorn machines almost more than watching the movies. We’d always have to get to the theater early enough so that they could stand and watch them for a while before we had to be in our seats for the movie!

We try to take the kids to the movies a few times a year, and I think this would be the perfect time to go! There are several great movies showing that we all have talked about wanting to see! Now if I can just get everyone to agree on the same movie, we’ll have it made!

Awesome day with a crappy ending!

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Frustration, Fun Stuff, Kids, Stress

The kids and I had a TOTALLY awesome day! My hubby got called into work this morning and worked until 10:30 tonight, so it was just me, the kids and the dogs today. We had an amazing day with almost no arguments! The kids decided that they wanted to get some fresh air and since it was sunny they went outside. I looked out the slider door to see where they were at and managed to catch them on the trampoline jumping and laughing, so I decided to try and sneak some pictures of them. I was able to snap a few pictures before they caught me, once they seen what I was doing it became a “free for all” to see who could do the coolest “trick” for me to take a picture of. In

After the first set of photos were taken we came inside to upload them to the computer and see how they turned out. Some of them were awesome, some managed to capture the funniest captions on the kids’ faces and some made us laugh until we were crying. After looking through the first set of pictures, the kids wanted to go back out so that I could take some more, they wanted to do cooler tricks and make funnier faces. They ended up going in and out of the house several times and in all I ended up taking over 100 pictures of them, most of them being “action” shots where they were in mid air or doing a flip or something.

When they had had enough of the cold weather (although it was sunny, it was only 35 degrees tops today), they came in and we made some hot cocoa and looked through all of the pictures again. We made some dinner, did the dishes and chilled out for the rest of the evening.

Out of the middle of nowhere I lost my internet connection, I still was connected to the network betwee the 3 computers, but I had no internet. The other three computers all had internet, but not mine. I tried restarting my computer thinking tat would help, but it didn’t. I tried to do a system restore on the computer to back it up a day, but for some reason it wouldn’t do the restore. I tried restarting the modem, that didn’t work. By the time my husband got home from work I was almost in freak out stage. I had no idea what was going on or what to do about it, and I’ve never not been able to diagnose and/or fix computer problems.

Finally we got the bright idea to just plug my computer directly into the modem and amazingly, for the first time in a few hours, I had an internet connection. That was good news, but it was also bad news because it meant that our ever so faithful router was probably taking a dump on us, and right now we just cannot afford to replace it. So hubby got to “tinkering” with things (since that’s what he’s best at). After playing the “Old Switcheroo” with some of the wires and powering the router off for a while, we seem to have the problem fixed. But the reality is that we’re going to have to replace our router ASAP! It’s OLD, and by old I mean that it is easily 6 years old, and I’m not exactly sure what the life span of a wired router is.

I did make use of my time without internet, in between freaking out and yelling…LOL! I took some of the pictures of the kids that I shot today and put them to music. So, for your viewing pleasure……

I finally got the news…

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Family News, Fun Stuff, Travel

My nephew and his fiancé have finally narrowed down their wedding plans. The wedding is to be in October and it will definitely be in Las Vegas. So now, they are researching the best hotels Las Vegas has to offer. They want a hotel that will offer them a room with the best view possible as well as one that is close to the strip and the wedding chapels. I don’t think they’ve chosen a specific chapel yet, but I heard that his fiancé specifically said she didn’t want to be married by Elvis…LOL! No matter what hotel or chapel they choose, I have no doubt that they are going to have a beautiful wedding that they will cherish for years to come! They are such an awesome couple and it is so exciting to hear the plans for the next stage in their life together!

100 Years

Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Fun Stuff

Very few things in life make me go WOW! I recently read this on a local forum that I go to and after I read it I was totally in shock!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The average life expectancy in the U.S. was 47 years.Only 14% of the homes had a bathtub. Only 8% of the homes had a telephone. A three-minute call from Denver to New York City cost $11.00.There were only 8,000 cars in the U.S. and only 144 miles of paved roads.
The maximum speed limit in most cities was 10 mph.
The tallest structure in the world was the Eiffel Tower. Read more…
Manic Monday
Author: justsimplyholly  //  Category: Fun Stuff, Manic Monday
I thought I’d give Manic Monday a try!  It’s a Monday meme that is hosted each week by Lisa.  Check it out and give it a try!  I found out about it over at my pal Jennifer’s blog.
QUESTIONS:
1.  If you could change anything about the way you were raised, what would it be and why?
2.  Do you think that the world will be a better or a worse place 100 years from now?
3.  At the beginning of a relationship, do you trust your new partner unless there is something specific to make you do otherwise, or do you withhold your trust until he/she has earned it?
ANSWERS:
1.  I think the only thing that I would really change, if I could, would be not losing my father to cancer when I was 14.  I was raised on a farm and had a wonderful childhood, so there’s really nothing else I would change.
2.  That’s a difficult question to answer.  I think technology wise it will be a better place, and I think (or at least hope), that more will be being done as far as taking care of things like the atmosphere, the water, the land and those kinds of things.  But I’m afraid for the bad things that will happen like higher crime rates, an economy that doesn’t equal out so that there is so much poverty and those kinds of things.  As a parent I worry about whether or not my children will be safe in the future.
3.  Relationships have never come easy to me.  Whether it’s the relationship with your significant other or a simple friendship.  I have been burned by so many people and I do find it very difficult to allow myself to trust new people that come into my life.  But one I do realize that I can trust someone, I still guard myself because of past relationships that have hurt.  So I guess I’d say I probably withhold until I’m 100% certain I can trust them.
