THAT was a close call!

Ever since I started my job, I’ve generally gone into work at 9:00 AM, except last Saturday when I went into work at 12 noon. I knew that I had to be to work this morning, I had actually entered the info about my work hours into my online calendar so that I could get an email reminder as well as a text reminder on my cell phone.
For some reason, when I got up this morning, I was in the mind state that I had to be to work at 9. I got up at 5:15, which gave me plenty of time to enjoy some coffee and play around online for a bit before I had to start getting ready. Right around 7:00 I decided that I needed to grab my shower and start getting ready. Just as I was getting ready to walk away from my desk, my cell phone buzzed telling me I had a text message. I almost walked away from it because I knew it was just my reminder for work, but I decided to go ahead and grab it so that it wouldn’t sit here buzzing. It’s a darned good thing I did, because if I wouldn’t have, I’d have probably been late for work!
As I said, I had it in my mind that I needed to be to work at 9, but when I checked my cell phone, the reminder was for 8, not 9. I was like OH CRAP, and booked back to the shower. See, if I hadn’t have read the message, I’d have taken a nice long, leisurely shower, which really would have set me back time wise! I have to leave the house about 40 minutes before I have to be to work because it takes me about 25 minutes to get there and the clocks at work are 10 minutes ahead of all the clocks I have here at home. I ended up getting to work and clocking in at 8:02. I apologized to my manager and explained to him what happened and he looked at me with this look like he was thinking “Are you kidding me, you’re only 2 minutes late”. But once I explained to him how I have this “thing” about always being where I’m going on time, if not early, he seemed to understand…LOL! What totally stunk was the fact that I didn’t even finish my 2nd cup of coffee this morning…LOL! But everything was OK, and that’s what matters!
Speaking of work, I started to learn a new area today, and I was so frustrated because I felt like I was in the way all the time. I worked in the bakery part as a “backer”, helping the cashiers fill the customers orders and learning how to make coffee. It was fun, but there were times where I really felt bad because I was just not getting the hang of a few of the different things. But I know that’s how you learn, and since these are things that are totally unfamiliar to me, I’m learning from scratch. But I will say that it’s VERY cool learning how to run the coffee machine and learning how to make the different types of drinks! I’m REALLY excited that I now know how to make my personal favorite coffee drink, which is a cafe latte! MMMMMMMM YUMMY stuff there!
