Just Simply Holly

My son and I were talking earlier today about school stuff, I was double checking to make sure he had finished his homework and had his stuff ready to go back to school tomorrow. I’m very lucky, he is a good kid, for the most part

We got to talking about school and his friends and stuff when he said “Mom, my friend so and so was freaking out the other day. When I finally got her calmed down to see what was going on she told me that she had just found out that her sister was pregnant”. I got him to talk about it a little more and found out that this girl is a senior in High School and had already been accepted into college, but now they’re not sure what she’s going to do.

As we were talking he told me that there were actually several girls in school that were pregnant, including two on his school bus and that he knew of at least two that had babies over this past summer. He said one of the girls on his bus was huge and due any day and had actually been talking on the bus the other morning about how her mom was throwing a baby shower for her over the weekend and she couldn’t wait to see what kinds of cute and unique baby gifts she was going to get.

One can only hope that these young girls have a strong support system to help them once they become mothers. I was 27 when I had my first child, I was young and scared and inexperienced, but I had a fantastic husband as well as the full support of my family for help.
