Twenty two hours

That’s how many hours straight my husband worked before he finally clocked out last night. The poor guy was SOOOOOO tired when he finally got home last night. He was called by his boss Tuesday asking him if he could come to work Tuesday evening at 7:00 PM and help with a last minute job that was expected to last about 8 hours. He said sure, no problem and reported for work at 7:00 PM. The job was the install of an industrial furnace in a factory that was going to require at least two cranes because the furnace alone weighed about 17 ton. But, as all things in life, it didn’t go as planned…LOL! The company that was bringing one of the cranes had their crane fall through the trailer on the way to the job, eliminating the ability to use that crane. The called several back up companies to find out if they had a big enough crane available on such a short notice and found one, or so they thought. When the crane showed up, it had a maximum capability of lifting 3 ton, well below the weight of the furnace they were installing. When the company that provided the crane that was too small was called, they realized the error and offered a larger crane, but because of where it was at it would require an additional 4 hours to get the crane to the job location. They didn’t have much choice, so they agreed. Four hours turned into almost six, but at least it was a crane sufficient enough to help lift the weight of the furnace.
The job seemed almost “doomed” from the beginning though, and suffered one complication after another. Two of the guys on the job had been there for 36 hours before they finally clocked out, and my husband and three other guys pulled 22 hours. They all are back up there today, and will also be there tomorrow. It makes for a nice work week though, especially for the guys that worked 36 hours straight! When my husband got home last night he sat and relaxed for a little bit, then ate dinner, took a shower, and relaxed a little more before finally giving in and going to bed. He was out cold as soon as he hit the pillow!
I have a few things to do online this morning, then I have to run into the grocery store, then I’m planning on baking cookies this afternoon. I want to take a batch of my Christmas cookies to the birthday party for my mom and step dad this weekend. MMMMMMMMMMMMM……COOKIES!!!!!!
