Exercising to gain muscle

I’ll be the first to admit that I’m not one to do much exercising. I know that this isn’t a good thing, especially considering that one of the medications I am on causes weight gain. So I’ve been looking into doing things that can change that. At the school that I’m going to this fall they have a student fitness center that I have complete access to. On Tuesdays and Thursdays I have a 3 hour break between classes that I planned on using for studying, but am now considering using to work out. My boss suggested that I think about also using something like muscle milk to aid in the fat burning process and help with muscle building. He and his son both use it and he highly recommends it.
